Hyatt Place — IAH, Houston — Texas
Temps: 78F (23C) / 44F (7C)
Busy day. We were up early as usual, but instead of lazing around, we had last minute chores to do to prepare our home-on-wheels for its 6-month sleep in storage — primarily winterizing it as a precaution against any freezing temperatures that might hit the area during our absence. By 11:30a, the RV resort that was our base of operations this past month was behind us.
A farewell to Houston sunset.
The poor Phaeton has spent quite a bit of time “sleeping” these past two-three years as we gallivanted around the world. In that time, we’ve refined the storage chores down to a science. Once we arrived at the facility, we ran through the checklist to make sure nothing important was overlooked … like connecting the solar panels to keep the house and chassis batteries charged up in our absence. An hour later, we were done. Time to fire up the Uber app and get ourselves to our overnight hotel near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
As we usually do, we booked our IAH hotel by bidding on Priceline — we’ve yet to be disappointed with the results … and this time was no exception. Usually we end up at the Sheraton North Houston, but this time our $70 bid netted us the Hyatt Place … a clean, spacious room with all the amenities we could want for an overnight stay. And a colorful sunset as a bonus.
Room 408 has all the amenities we could need for an overnight stay.
We have an early flight to Miami tomorrow … time to relax a bit before calling it a night. At least I hope it will be an early night. I do tend to have trouble getting to sleep when we are on the verge of a trip … too much excitement.

Now that is an excellent price for that hotel, and the location is amazing. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteI guess your luck with Priceline has to do with the multiple venues available. I tried it last year in Eugene and for $70. we finally got a terrible room in a very noisy Super 8. It was the best we could get, which is why we have driven the motorhome there for overnights ever since. Lovely room. Looks like there might be enough room for you to bounce around in your excitement.!
ReplyDeleteBon Voyage!
ReplyDeleteYes, for sure ... Bon Voyage! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy (and think of us once in a while, ok?)
ReplyDeleteThis room is "slightly" larger then you stateroom on the ship. Watching a snowstorm and hoping to fly tomorrow.
