At Sea — Caribbean Sea
Temps: 82F (28C) @ UTC 5:00P (ship’s time Noon)
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry,
and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends.

We were up at 6a. I blinked and it was noon. I blinked again and it is already 3:00p. Please tell me where the day has gone!
As tempting as it was to be idle, we were not. After a quickie breakfast, we were off to the Insignia Lounge for another special event for the RTWers. This one was an 8:30a coffee get together designed to give us a chance to introduce ourselves to each other. The early birds were all there … not so much those who prefer to start their day later. We’ll catch them at other events.
At the RTW Coffee Get Together with new friends Sonia and Boris.
Afterwards, changing into our exercise togs, Mui and I went for a walk. Unfortunately, the outer decks were still off limits due to the continued motion of the ocean … white caps making for a noticeable sway. Add to that the slick decking underfoot due to rain and sea spray … smarter to walk around all the decks indoors — including the cabin passageways to maximize our steps. We’ll try our luck outdoors again later today.
Our second activity of the morning was a lecture on the Panama Canal. This was the third in the series … we skipped the first two that focused on the history of the building of the canal since we’ve attended similar presentations on past cruises. “Transit the Panama Canal” was the title of this lecture, which was in the nature of a pictorial passage. Though I’ve pretty much covered the various vantage points from which to enjoy the PC from onboard a ship, I did come away with a couple of details I’m going to keep a lookout for during our transit in a few days’ time.
Lunchtime found us at the Terrace Café … nice to sit outdoors and have lunch in the shade now that the sun has finally made an appearance. We didn’t dally, though … veranda time was beckoning.
The Terrace is an excellent place for an al fresco meal.
I have no plans for the rest of the day except to sit on the veranda and read until dinner time. Oh, and yes, I am going to attempt to put in a few more steps — this time on the outer decks if they are open. From the sea spray we’re getting on our deck 6 veranda, however, I’m guessing that walk is not going to be possible. I’m going to go check it out as soon as I post this to the blog.
Tomorrow … Cartagena, Colombia.

So thrilled that you are managing to write! And to put in photos! You look just wonderful. Both of you. And the ocean looks so inviting as well, and of course the terrace, and imagining the veranda. It has been much too long since we have been on a cruise! Once the house is finished....seems as though I say that a lot lately.
