At Sea — North Pacific Ocean … En Route to Acapulco
Temps: 81.7F (27.6C) @ UTC 2:45a (ship’s time 8:45p)
Voyage, travel, and change of place impart vigor.

It felt so good to wake up this morning and know that we had nowhere to be. Ahhh — a day at sea … after several days of being out and about, well deserved I think.
Not that we slept in. No, we were up at 6:30a, and into our sea-day exercise routine very shortly thereafter. I do my exercises on deck 10 where there is a jogging path … I walk … with the stairs up to deck 11 and some stretches and floor exercises thrown in for good measure. Mui prefers to get his exercise by walking up and down the staircases inside … his own version of a Stairmaster!
We met up for breakfast around 7:30a. With the sun blasting the stern of the ship, we ended up taking our food from the Terrace Café out to the Waves Grill … still outside but under cover near the pool area. I think this may be our new routine until the ship shifts direction.
Of course, when the Terrace Café gets the sun, so does our aft veranda. So, I wrote in my journal for a while inside before heading over to the Artist’s Loft for a seminar on post-photo editing. It was a bit too basic for me, but the time away from the cabin gave Zhenya and Gabriel a chance to tidy things up for us. By the time I returned to our stateroom, half the veranda was in the shade, so I made myself comfortable out there to catch up on some reading. Except for a light lunch at the Terrace Café, I was pretty much on the veranda all afternoon.
At 6:00p, I had to force myself inside to get ready for dinner at Toscana for a change of pace — and because Mui was in the mood for octopus carpaccio. This specialty restaurant — at no extra cost on the O ships — has a wide selection of excellent options … including an olive oil and balsamic vinegar cart to start things off. I like that I can get some of the entrees as a ‘small plate’ … more my portion size.
The octopus carpaccio was so thinly sliced that it was almost sheer.
And thus comes to an end our precious day at sea. We have tomorrow planned as a beach day in Acapulco, so it should be relaxing … sort of like a day at sea … except on land.

That is a lovely looking plate, although I have yet to try octopus or squid or any of those squiggly little things. Many people say I am missing out, but ah well, I at least ate raw oysters in Ireland. So love those sea days, and isn't it amazing how quickly they go by?!?!
ReplyDeleteYuck on the raw oysters ... you are braver than me. Prepared and cooked right, both octopus and squid are great ... nothing squiggly. I do have a preference for the latter ... either grilled or deep fried.
