It is good to have an end to journey toward;
but it is the journey that matters in the end.

What a gorgeous day we are having! And it all started with a colorful sunrise.
Blue skies, plenty of sunshine, calm seas. There is a breeze out on the open decks that adds a chill to the day, but the sun tempers its effects. Here on the veranda — at a little after 1:00p — it is simply terrific.
In his noon announcement, Captain B said the temperature was about 68F (20C), but back here, where the breeze isn’t affecting us today, the temp has risen from 65F (18C) at 7:00a to a very comfy 75F (24C). I am stocking up on this cool weather for those days when we will be “cooking” later in the voyage.
Nice Weather — Why Cancel Cabo?
Such a beautiful day has caused rumblings amongst the passengers about bypassing Cabo in lieu of a sea day. I think most misinterpreted Captain B’s announcement last night re: the storms heading towards California, and expected today to be miserable. No, the storms are still on the way. The reason we are skipping our tender port is because we will start feeling the effects of the storm tomorrow … by around noon and into the night. The 5-20 foot (1.5-6 m) waves we expect to encounter will slow us down, so our being at sea today is intended for Insignia to make headway while the going is good. San Diego, our next port, is not miss-able as that is where the ship will re-provision and take on fuel for the Pacific Ocean crossing to Hawaii.
Changing …
… sunset colors!
Back to Our Day At Sea …
So what did we do on this unexpected day at sea? Entertained ourselves as we often do … reading, writing, walking … and then start over again. Lest readers think there’s nothing to do on the ship — I counted at least 25 activities listed in the Currents … we just weren’t interested enough to attend any of them.
Tonight we gain another hour … yay! I really love going east to west ;-)

Hmm, somehow I would imagine that folks being on a RTW trip would be a bit better informed about how things work with the weather, the ship, and the seas. Those captains are in charge for a reason! Gorgeous skies! My favorite time on a cruise is early morning deck time walking.
ReplyDeleteA sunset to be proud of!
ReplyDeleteOf all the ports to skip, this one most probably won't be missed.
ReplyDeleteAgreed -- esp. since we'd been before.
