Advanced RV Resort — Houston, Texas
Sunny Holidays is Insignia’s last sailing prior to embarking the passengers for our voyage on 6 January.
The ship, which leaves out of Miami on 23 December, returns to the same port on 4 January. It would normally be odd for a ship to have a two-day layover in port between sailings … cruise lines don’t like losing money. In this instance, however, the crew probably needs more time to provision and prep the ship for a 180-day itinerary.
It occurred to me today that we could have booked this sailing as a prequel to our RTW voyage … get the same cabin as we have for our grand adventure, work with O to have our LF shipment delivered to the ship early — even getting them on the 4th would work; and get settled into our cabin in a leisurely fashion.
The bonus? The itinerary is actually quite nice and we would have had a relaxing 12-day cruise before the RTW, which promises to be action-packed.
The cruise leaves in 8 days, though, and aside from the fact that our cabin is more than likely already booked and our airfare to Miami is already purchased for the 4th, there is one big issue that prohibits us from acting on this plan — we are nowhere near ready to leave home. There is still a lot to do … and I am not talking just about packing our bags.
Darn! Had this idea occurred to me when we were discussing plans for our pre-voyage stay in Miami, you can be sure I would have acted on it immediately. Something to keep in mind for the next RTW … if we ever do another one© 2015-2017 — All rights reserved by Erin Erkun.
