Packing … ✔

Twas the day before the New Year, when all through the house on wheels
Erin and Mui were stirring, busy as bees.
The clothes were hung in front of the windshield with care,
In hopes that they would soon be placed in the bags that were bare.

OK, OK … I won’t butcher Clement Clarke Moore’s beautiful Christmas Poem any more than I already have.  Suffice to say, the bags are no longer bare.  All but the last minute items are packed in the suitcases we are taking with us on the flight to Miami on 4 January.  Did we over pack?  No doubt about it.  But this is one trip where I refuse to stress about what is going and what is staying behind.

Final Packing

Yes, it can be challenging to pack for a long trip when one is living in a motorhome.
But Mui came up with a creative solution or two to make it easy … or at least easier.

It sure feels good to have this travel chore done.  And the bonus … with everything put into the bags, we can once again see out the windshield of the Phaeton ;-)

Going Public

I’ve been quietly working away at a private blog for our RTW voyage almost since we booked it back in July 2015.  I shared it with one friend who was intrigued by what we were doing and our planning process.  One or two RTWers who expressed an interest in blogging/journaling themselves also received a link to get a glimpse of what I was doing … with the encouragement to keep things simpler than I tend to do.  But that was it.  No one else had an inkling of the existence of this blog … not our families … not even our travel companions … sorry guys; just wasn’t ready to say anything about it!

Wishing one and all joyous holidays and a spectacular 2017 filled with health and happiness … and oh yeah, plenty of travel adventures, too.  For those leaving on the Insignia on January 6, happy packing!

Peace and goodwill towards all …
not just during the season, but all year round and well into the future.

Tracking the LF Bags … Delivered

Monday, 19 December 2016LF Bags Delivered!
Advanced RV Resort — Houston, Texas

7:57a — not only are all four bags reunited in Miami, they are already on a FedEx vehicle out for delivery to their final destination in Doral by 4:30p … woo hoo!

10:15a — all four bags are signed, sealed, and delivered to Oceania’s Doral facility!  Two days ahead of schedule no less.  I got an email from FedEx confirming the delivery, but of course I went online to verify.  Yup, the bags are where they are supposed to be.  Now it’s up to O to keep them safe.

``````````````````
P.S. Mui just told me that he got the delivery verification from Luggage Free a few hours ago.
Thank you LF and FedEx for an efficient luggage shipping process that went like clockwork.
Miles Redeposited
Sunday, 18 December 2016
Advanced RV Resort — Houston, Texas
It took another phone call to United Airlines, and a long time on hold, but the miles from our airfare debacle a few days ago are now redeposited into Mui’s MileagePlus account — all 25,000 miles of them.
From what I understand, the miles went into limbo because the agent who promised a no-fee-transaction neglected to annotate our record.  My heart sank when I heard there would be a $125pp fee after all.  But after I explained the reason for the cancellation and she showed her supervisor that we had already rebooked in first class, the fee waiver was authorized!  Hallelujah!
