We lost an hour overnight. Hence, it was almost 7:00a when we woke up to a slowly brightening sky. This time change is in preparation for Singapore, our next overnight port of call. Although Singapore is in the same time zone as the other countries we’ve been visiting, last year this city-country moved permanently to Daylight Saving Time … just like Turkey … as if there isn’t enough confusion with all the springing forward and falling back we have going on already.
In any event, my tail was dragging all day. Not just because we lost an hour of sleep, but because of the three draining days we had in hot-weather ports before this precious day at sea. That we stayed up late last night to celebrate my birthday probably has something to do with my quite not feeling up to par as well.
The cabin was decorated with balloons when we re-embarked Insignia after
our day on Koh Samui yesterday. The towel roses and the birthday card from
the officers and crew of Insignia arrived during turndown service last night.
I was so lackadaisical that despite my best intentions, it wasn’t until after lunch that I sat down to write about the past three days. The veranda was in the shade this morning, and I sat out for a few minutes while Karen and Augus were cleaning the cabin, but then the fumes drove me inside. So, I went to the starboard Deck 5 promenade to write, switching over to the port side when the sun started encroaching and warming things up on the starboard deck. In the shade, with the light breeze wafting over me, it was quite nice to sit outdoors. Before I knew it, my watch was telling me that it was 5:00p.
At some point during the day, Mui and I spent some time talking about our non-existent plans for Singapore and came up with something that we think will work. Using public transit to get around, we’ll focus on flowers one day … and on animals the next day.
We were supposed to dine at Toscana tonight, but neither of us felt like getting dressed up. Instead, we canceled our reservation and went up to the Terrace Café for a quick bite. So much better since the weather allowed us to sit outside … a good way to wrap up our day.
