I wasn’t going to post today, but I wanted to respond to a comment left on a previous post, so here I am.
Before I get to that, though …
We had an absolutely FANTASTIC day at sea. Lots of blue skies and sunshine, and a ship’s heading that kept the veranda free of direct sun for most of the day so I could sit out for hours on end. A light breeze kept the exhaust fumes away … even better. I am still coughing in fits and spurts, but my throat seems to be on the mend.
I was so enjoying myself on the veranda that I completely spaced out the Country Fair event O put on this morning. Honest, I would have checked it out just to get a few photos for the blog, but by the time I remembered … well, it was too late. Maybe another time.
While I’m at it …
I mentioned that we were invited to dine with GM Victor a few nights ago. We had a wonderful time. Officer-hosted tables sometimes turn into an opportunity to air grievances. I’m happy to report that did not happen. We had a nice mix of four couples — two from the UK; two from the US. Victor was a gracious host and there was never a lack of convivial conversation around the table. He will be leaving the ship in Auckland to go on vacation, but as is the case with several others, he will be returning to complete the voyage with us in a few months’ time.
Now for the response …
In a comment on my post about planning our shoreside trips, Lexi said she was confused because she thought we got “a free excursion at each port on Oceania.” Not the case, I’m afraid. That said, Oceania does run an “O Life Choice” promotion that offers a number of shore excursions as a perk included in the fare you pay. The number varies with the length of the cruise, but it is not one for each port of call.
Tomorrow is another Melanesian island day for us. If the weather cooperates, I should have a story to tell or at least some pretty photos to share.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Erin. In comparing possible World Cruises for the DH and me, I was factoring in the cost of shore excursions and always thought with O they were included. Now that I take a closer look at their marketing material it does seem to refer to their shorter cruises. Hmm...
ReplyDeleteI should further clarify that the O Life excursions can be selected from a list of available excursions ... with some exclusions.
DeleteI typed an entire comment on the phone and then lost it!! back to the laptop and I'll try again. So...lovely day at sea sounds wonderful. You are traveling now in parts of the world I have not paid much attention to or read about, so it is going to be fun. An aside, HGTV Islands had the Four Seasons Bora Bora on today. Only 23,000 USD per week for one of those sweet little over the water bungalows. Think I might have to rethink my big dreams.
