I’d rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city on earth.

Our day started in the Gulf of St Lawrence.  I did not intend to sleep in … and, if you go by Eastern Daylight Time, I didn’t.  But we are on Atlantic Daylight Time now and getting up at 7:00a was sort of like sleeping in.  Breakfast was at the Terrace Café … it was too cold to eat outside, though.  And then back to the cabin for a lazy day.

Oceania InsigniaReaders will have noticed that I have been skipping posts for the days we spend at sea.  This is not an oversight.  Rather, it’s because I wanted to devote what little free time I’ve had on this voyage to writing about the ports.  No one really cares about my lazy days at sea anyway … reading, writing, and whatnot.  Perhaps someday I’ll find time to back fill those days and put up some blog posts.

In the meantime, a reader asked if I could post some photos of the ship … especially the public spaces.  At one point I intended to do a photo-journal of Insignia, but somehow that project got away from me.  Fear not!  I do have some quickie iPhone snapshots that I uploaded into a gallery.  I am happy to share them on this day at sea.  If you’re interested in seeing them click here.

Insignia continues to make her way to our last port of call in Canada — Halifax.  We’ve been there before, but we didn’t explore the city then.  I found a 4-mile (6.5 km) stroll that should fill our day nicely … even if it is a short day with a 4:00p departure.

  1. Oh goodie, I'll go check out the photos of the ship. We missed Halifax on our October cruise because of bad weather, hope to get back there someday and explore. I'll look forward to reading about your stroll.

  4. Goodness, you took a lot of ship photos, very nice. There's always so much to see/do/and process when in port, that having sea days is a blessing!

  5. Thanks for the pictures of the ship. I have been talking up a long cruise like yours ever since you started posting about it. I am getting a fair amount of resistance:( Mostly concerning the grandkids:)

    1. There are shorter options ... either as a grand voyage or a shorter RTW cruise. Most RTW cruises are in the 100-day range.
