Nobody can discover the world for somebody else.
Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common
ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.

There is a downside to keeping the drapes open when you have an aft-facing cabin and the ship is heading west — especially in the summer when sunrise is bright and early.  You know what, though?  I don’t mind being woken up early when it happens naturally.

This morning wake up was at 5:30a.  It was nice and cool outside.  I debated going for a walk on deck 10, but decided to save my feet for tomorrow instead.   I imagine there will be plenty of walking in our future now that we are in Europe and we have no formal tours booked for the ports of call ahead of us.

It was an overall quiet day that followed a typical sea day routine.  Breakfast with the Gelmans … writing outdoors … light lunch … reading and writing outdoors … dinner (at Polo Grill) … reading outdoors.  That about sums it up.

Sitting outside — whether on the deck 5 promenade or on the veranda — required a light sweater and the use of one of the cashmere throws O provides us for veranda use.  No complaints, though.  I plan to thoroughly enjoy the cooler weather … while it lasts.

Tomorrow is a new-to-us Sicilian port.  While we won’t rush off at 8:00a, we will likely not dawdle on the ship either.  Best to get to bed early.
