Aboard NCL Jade — Port of Houston, Texas
Still not writing a whole lot on the blog. That’s likely to change in 2016 when I start working on the RTW plans more diligently.
We returned to the US today by way of a TransAtlantic cruise from Barcelona to Houston. In fact, we’re still on NCL Jade, awaiting clearance to disembark so we can go pick up our “condo on wheels.” You might ask what’s so urgent that I am posting to the RTW blog now … before I even get home. Nothing. But I do have some news, and I do have some time to kill … so pourquoi pas … why not?
I logged into my email a few minutes ago and what should my eyes behold but a change to our RTW itinerary. The brochure O published back in July listed 98 ports of call — that’s down to 97 now. Connie forwarded an email from O on November 12 that announced the removal of Sharm el Sheikh on May 14 … replaced with a day of cruising the Gulf of Suez. No explanation as to why.
Might the recent events — namely the downing by an ISIS terrorist of a Russian airplane that took off from Sharm — have anything to do with the change? Possibly … the timing is certainly suspicious since that plane was brought down just two weeks ago. Of course, it could be something completely innocuous that prompted the change, too — like the convoy schedule for the Suez Canal transit the next day.
I doubt we’ll ever know the ‘why’ behind the change. Not that it matters. What is it they say about change being the only constant? This will likely not be the only change to our itinerary … and I am OK with that.

Interesting....and I can only imagine what other changes might ensue in the many days left before you are actually on this amazing world cruise.
