Deer Crossing RV Park — San Patricio, New Mexico
Tick-tock … tick-tock … B-Day is just one sleep away.
My mind is awhirl with so many thoughts. No hope of getting a sound night’s sleep until I wear my brain out. I tried reading … but I kept losing track of the plotline. I tried watching TV … to no avail. So, I’m going to try writing instead.
I love journaling. I love blogging … essentially a form of public journaling. I love writing about our travels as an insurance against ‘the day’ when words and pictures will be the only way we are able to travel to distant lands — not anytime soon, I hope … but that day is inevitable … it will come. More than writing about our travels, however, I love ‘living in the moment’ of our travels … being out and about … exploring and learning.
And therein lies the dilemma — managing to find time to put together blog posts when I would rather be enjoying new experiences. Readers of my two blogs — Two to Travel and Phaeton Journeys — well know of my eternal struggle to stay current with my posts. If I am forever playing catch-up and writing about our short(er) trips after the fact, how on earth will I be able to stay on top of a blog for a six-month voyage?
No easy answer. But as they say, nothing ventured … nothing gained. And I know I will regret not trying. Hence this new blog dedicated to the RTW.
There won’t be time to delve deep and write extensively. I plan to keep the posts simple — a few words; some images … just enough to give family and friends a close-to-real-time taste of what we are seeing and experiencing … just enough to jog our memories in later years. The details will go into my journal, where I can ramble all I want with no consideration to grammar, delicate feelings, and other niceties that a public journal requires. Maybe someday some of those details will make it into the blog to flesh out the story of our voyage … but I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you!

I am excited to be able to read as you travel. It will be interesting to see how much you manage to write. My guess is that it may vary a lot depending on circumstances.
